A round-up of BBC announcements, press releases and blogs, plus some highlights from our TV, radio and online output last week.

Radio 1 Vintage

On Thursday BBC Radio 1 revealed plans for a three-day digital radio station to mark BBC Radio 1’s 50th birthday. Featuring 50 one-hour themed nostalgic shows made from Radio 1's archive material from DJs across its entire history, it will celebrate the pivotal role that Radio 1 has played in music, entertainment and popular culture since its launch in 1967.

iPlayer 

The iPlayer Perfomance pack for May 2017 has been released and reveals that BBC One drama Three Girls was the most-watched drama on BBC iPlayer in May.

BBC Wales

BBC Cymru Wales this week revealed wide-ranging plans to enhance its services across Wales, with the creation of 40 new jobs and a major shake-up of its news, television and mobile services.

Drama

This week BBC One announced key casting for new six-part drama from writer Abi Morgan (The Hour, The Iron Lady), The Split.

Meanwhile the media pack forIn The Dark a brand-new, four-part drama by Bafta-winning writer Danny Brocklehurst (Ordinary Lies, The Driver, Exile), was published.

Comedy

BBC Two confirmed that comedy White Goldwill head back to Eighties Essex for a second series.

Music

BBC’s Music Glastonbury 2017 coverage achieved record viewing figures on TV and Online. Almost 21 million people (20.9m) watched Glastonbury TV coverage for at least 3 minutes, an increase of 12% on 2016.

Children's 

On Thursday BBC Children's announced raft of new commissions

It was also confirmed that award-winning children's fantasy adventure show Raven is to return to CBBC with a new format and a new star.

Sport

The BBC and ECB today announced a new five-year, strategic partnership that brings live cricket back to BBC TV for the first time in 21 years.

Regional

It was announced that the BBC will have a temporary new home in Festival Square (aka Albert Square) for Manchester International Festival (MIF).

International

BBC Swahili launched on 27 June 1957 and celebrated its Diamond Jubilee this week. Special programming was available throughout the week to recognise this impressive milestone.
