It’s a veritable entertainment bonanza on the red button this week with an exclusive extra scene from EastEnders, Strictly Come Dancing Red Carpet, the Doctor Who Extra series, The One Show Music Festival and Sounds of the 80s, making its grand return to Red Button.

If sport is more your cup of tea, we have plenty going on this weekend with action from the World Equestrian Games and Live Triathlon, as well as old favourites the Football League Show and Final Score, followed by a transfer day deadline special on Monday and action from the UCI World Cup.

Doctor Who Extra

From 9:30pm on Saturday, we delve into the world of the Time Lord as Peter Capaldi arrives on set early to watch the Daleks in action and talks about his first encounter with them. We also ask Jenna Coleman and Samuel Anderson about their on-screen romance.

At 6am and 6pm on Saturday, take a Deep Breath and go behind the scenes on the first episode starring Peter Capaldi as the 12th Doctor.

Sounds of the 80s

Sara Cox presents a guitar-themed edition of Radio 2’s Sounds of the 80s. Enjoy the greatest guitar riffs of the decade, plus the pop videos that made Bon Jovi, Foreigner and Eddie Van Halen your air guitar heroes. Joining Sara is guitarist and founding member of Genesis, Mike Rutherford, who reflects on the band’s role and influence on 80s music.

The One Show Music Festival

For the first time ever, The One Show Music Festival is bringing together an inspiring line up of artists from the last 50 years of music. On Tuesday, pianist Lang Lang plays live, followed by a performance from The Vamps, then on Thursday Matt and Alex are joined by one of hottest names in British pop music, Sam Smith, followed by a performance from Kasabian. At the end of the week, The One Show Music Festival concludes with a live performance from rock legend Robert Plant and highlights from the event.
