Later 25 at the Royal Albert Hall
The line-up has been revealed for Later 25 at the Royal Albert Hall whenJools Holland will bring his iconic music television show to the Royal Albert Hall on Thursday September 21 2017 to celebrate 25 years, 50 series and over 360 episodes on BBC Two.
Appointments and departures
BBC Scotland announced the appointment of award-winning broadcaster Steve Carson, as Head of Multi-Platform Commissioning. Meanwhile, Hannah Wyatt is to join BBC Studios as Genre Director, Factual Entertainment and Events where she will oversee the creative, commercial, and operational strategy of the business, and will sit on the BBC Studios’ Executive Committee.
On Wednesday it was announced that John Motson will be commentating his final football season after 50 consecutive years with the BBC that have seen him cover 10 World Cups, 29 FA Cup finals, 10 European Championships and more than 200 England games.
Announcements and blogs
BBC Three
BBC Three - the first public service broadcast channel to go online only 18 months ago - reported on its success and announced new commissions.
Drama
On Monday, BBC Four it has acquired Witnesses: A Frozen Death, an eight-part mystery from France starring Marie Dompnier (The Tunnel) and Audrey Fleurot (Spiral). The series was created by Hervé Hadmar and Marc Herpoux and will air on BBC Four later this year.
On Tuesday the media pack for Rellik, a crime thriller that turns the serial killer story on its head, was published.
Meanwhile, filming began in Cornwall on series four of BBC One’s Poldark with Aidan Turner and Eleanor Tomlinson this week.
Elsewhere, the BBC Writersroom announced the call for submissions for the 2018 BBC TV Drama Writers’ Programme.
On Friday, it was announced that Mark Benton and Jo Joyner will play the lead characters in a new BBC One daytime detective drama, Shakespeare & Hathaway - Private Investigators.
Entertainment
Ahead of the first episode of Strictly season 15 a media pack was published this week.
Children's and Learning
On Wednesday it was confirmed that a second series of Clangersis to air on CBeebies featuring brand new characters, sets and magical adventures.
Elsewhere, BBC Learning announced that they are offering educational videos to help teachers introduce the topic of mental health to primary school children.
Then, on Thursday CBeebies confirmed that Josh Homme, lead singer of rock band, Queens of the Stone Age, will be the next celebrity to read a Bedtime Story.
Sport
On Wednesday BBC Sports Personality of the Year launched the Get Inspired Unsung Hero Award for 2017, this time with a wider range of physical activities eligible for applications.
Radio
BBC Birmingham is giving fans of BBC Radio 4 The Archers a once-in-a-lifetime chance to discover everything they’ve ever wanted to know about their favourite radio drama thanks to a new exhibition.
Meanwhile, BBC Radio 6 Music Live At Maida Vale was confirmed to return for a sixth time in October, bringing a week-long celebration of incredible music performances live to air.
International
BBC World Service published detail of how to tune in to the service in Hong Kong.

Fiona Crack, Editor of BBC 100 Women season revealed that in its fifth year, the BBC 100 Women season is looking for solutions, and asked: Can you help?. BBC Uzbek journalist, Luiza Khudaykulova - known to radio and TV audiences as Luiza Iskandariy - blogs about her relationship with Afghanistan; TV Licensing's Pipa Doubtfire explained how the BBC are looking into what can be done to help those who find it difficult to pay their TV Licence. We also caught up with the BBC Get Inspired 2016 Unsung Hero Award winner; as well as the weekly BBC iPlayer Highlights 9-15 September.
