The BAFTA Television Awards were held last night at a ceremony in London. Special awards went to Clare Balding and Delia Smith and the Fellowship in 2013 to veteran actor and broadcaster Michael Palin (pictured) who talked about the BBC in his acceptance speech saying:
"No other broadcasting company in the world would have given me the freedom to do what I've done for the last 48 years."

BBC programmes were recognised in 15 of the 24 categories, as detailed below:
- The Revolution Will Be Televised (Comedy Programme: Mark Talbot, Heydon Prowse, Jolyon Rubinstein, Joe Wade)
- The Shame of the Catholic Church (This World), (Current Affairs: Sam Collyns, Alison Millar, Darragh MacIntyre, Seamus McCracken)

- 7/7: One Day in London (Single documentary: Ben Anthony, Sarah Hamilton, Rupert Houseman, Morgan Matthews)
- Murder (Single drama: Robert Jones, Birger Larson, Kath Mattock)
- The Graham Norton Show (Entertainment programme: Jon Magnusson, Graham Stuart, Steve Smith, Graham Norton)
- Twenty Twelve (Situation Comedy: John Morton, Paul Schlesinger, Catherine Gosling Fuller, Jon Plowman)
- Our War (Factual series: Our War production team)
- EastEnders (Soap and Continuing Drama: EastEnders production team)
- The Great British Bake Off (Features: Anna Beattie, Kieran Smith, Amanda Westwood, Scott Tankard)
- Olivia Coleman, Twenty Twelve (Female Performance in a Comedy Programme)
- Ben Whishaw, The Hollow Crown Richard II: (Leading Actor)
- Simon Russell Beale, The Hollow Crown Henry IV Part 2 (Supporting Actor)
- Olivia Coleman, Accused Mo’s Story (Supporting Actress)
- Room At The Top (Mini Series: Aisling Walsh, Amanda Coe, Paul Frift, Kate Triggs)
