Bruce Forsyth participates in the Olympic Torch Relay at BBC White City
Strictly Come Dancing presenter Sir Bruce Forsyth carried the Olympic Torch through the BBC White City Media Village today receiving the torch from international banker Antoine de Navacelle (great nephew of Pierre de Coubertin who organised the first modern Olympics in Athens in 1896) on the site of the finishing line of the 1908 Olympics stadium.
Staff lined the main piazza to get a glimpse of Sir Bruce as he walked back towards Wood Lane with the Olympic Torch. Others congregated on the top floors of the BBC Media Centre and Broadcast Centre, from where this video was shot.

Really I remember Andy arguing for months that it didn't make any difference when the BBC dropped it's bitrate. Well atleast now the BBC has seen the light and repented. I must confess I have only noticed a slight increase in quality compared to most Sky channels so I fear that the low bitrate is still having a considerable impact on quality. Trying to keep parity between Freeview and Satellite is a lost cause which is damaging to the BBC. As we have seen with the Olympics Freeview will never be able to provide the service licence payers are demanding. I know new freeview multiplexes are to be made available but that will still not be sufficient.
One thing I don't understand is that the Olympics on BBC 1 HD is in surround sound but the 24 extra channels are all in legacy stereo.
