606 at Octoberfest
On Saturday the 606 team took the trip to Sheffield to be part of 5 live's Octoberfest for a programme from The Crucible.
While were there we also helped break a Guinness World Record: BBC Radio 5 live and BBC Radio Sheffield successfully broke the record for the ‘Most players to play in a continuous 5-a-side football exhibition match.’ Robbie played in the final moments of the match. After the record was broken, 606 played Fighting Talk in a friendly (sort of). Robbie and Darren put in a shift in a team that featured James and Oliver Phelps, the Weasley twins from Harry Potter, and some of the 606 production team and Jason made his debut as The Gaffer.

The game ended 3-3. We’re sure Colin Murray will say the reason for the draw is because he had to be carried off injured. We’ll have to see about that in a re-match won’t we? Watch this space. After catching our breath, we re-fuelled for the show. Hosts Robbie Savage, Jason Roberts, Mark Chapman and Darren Fletcher engaged in plenty of interesting debate, the most popular subject being diving. Robbie became increasingly frustrated as many of the live audience suggested that Gareth Bale dived to win his penalty against Scotland on Friday night. He got so annoyed, he invited one member of the crowd to reenact the move. Ian, being the good sport that he was gracefully accepted.
Here are a few photos from the show at The Crucible.
Thanks to all of you that came to the show on Saturday. We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did. If you missed the show and want to listen again you can via the BBC iPlayer. You can also download a podcast for the show.
Oh and we also invited the England Supporters band to The Crucible and Robbie warmed up with them backstage. Who said Robbie likes to blow his own trumpet?
