I'm a Celebrity... :What the reviewers think

Must Watch TV reviewers Scott Bryan, TV Editor at Buzzfeed and Hayley Campbell, journalist and host of BBC podcast 'Unpopped' review ITV's I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!

Scott says: "I was shouting, 'where’s Noel Edmonds?'"

“It’s good that they’ve been open about the fact that Ant is not there and they’re not trying to act as if the last 18 months of what’s been reported in the papers has not happened.

“They tried to sort of make it like, let’s have teams and you have to make it onto your team and then we go and separate it, and then let’s go up a ladder over a cliff and give it dramatic music for half an hour.

"But for most of it I was shouting: 'Where’s Noel Edmonds?' - that’s what everyone’s really interested in.

“Something that I find really uncomfortable is how they use animals. I’m not a veggie but it's something about the treatment of a lot of the animals. I’m sure everything is above board but I find it heralds back to the day of using animals as entertainment.

“There were a few first episode nerves, because there is so much tabloid attention with regards to how well it would go in the first five minutes. What was interesting was going on Twitter and seeing people come up with their views of whether it was a success or failure, two minutes into the show!”

Hayley says: "Harry Redknapp was just talking in football clichés the whole time"

“Holly was utterly charming.

“I did like the fact that every time they asked [Harry Redknapp] a question he treated it like it was a press conference. He couldn’t just speak like a normal human-being; he was just talking in football clichés the whole time.

“He was hoping that there was going to be a bacon sandwich truck around the back, he was going on and on: 'well I knew we were going to the jungle, but I didn’t think that we would be for real going to the jungle.'

"They really went on about being fed emu as if it was the most disgusting thing. I grew up in Australia, quite near the jungle where they are, and emu meat is delicious; it’s a bit like beef, it’s just slightly less fatty and it's really expensive, so the fact that they were going on about ‘this is kind of gross’ is odd to me.

“I was totally on board with Anne crying, because the fact that they were sticking their hands into boxes of unknown insects, you’re not going to get an Australian person doing that. We know that everything in that box can kill you and even a green ant bite is such agony. I was watching that going: ‘aw that is a horrible thing and no one should be doing it’ and they’re just blindly going: ‘oh it’s a TV show, we’ll all be fine.’

"You won’t, it hurts."

“What I was thinking two minutes in, was that I wanted to give some SPF 50 plus to John Barrowman, he was in a state, he was an absolute tomato."
