Hayley says: "It's very well done"
"This is the six-part adaptation written by Andrew Davies who most recently turned War and Peace into a six-part series for the BBC.
"I wouldn't have watched it or even remotely liked it if it was a musical.
"This feels a lot more 21st Century than any Les Mis thing I've seen before, and not all of the cast is white, and the whole story of Les Mis is the rift between poor and rich which feels particularly relevant now - it wasn't crow-barred in.
"It's very well done.
"This is my high-brow review: Dominic West gets his bum out. This is huge news for fans of McNulty in The Wire. We waited many seasons for this, and I've checked for you - it is his actual bum, and it's here."

Scott says: "What surprised me is the scale of it"
"The idea with the regional accents is that they wanted to highlight the difference between the different social classes in Paris. It kind of throws you a little bit.
"To remind you that they're in France, there's someone in the background going 'bonjour'.
"This is not the musical one.
"The book has been adapted so many times, in so many different ways. What surprised me is the scale of it. There's a scene of a battlefield to begin with and it is truly cinematic."
