Martin Compston plays DS Steve Arnott.

He told the Must Watch podcast that the script is the "strongest thing about the show."

"I feel like I know what we’ve got in the can," he said.

"And I don’t want to sound like one of those guys trying to punt his albums saying this is the best one we’ve ever done, but I think this is the best one we’ve ever done.

"It’s no spoiler [to say] we all go through some quite dark times in this season, there’s one particular moment for Steve [Arnott] where he feels quite vulnerable and you see him at home and then he’s at work and it’s as if nothing happened.

"You’ve got to switch on - you put the waistcoat on and you go to work. That’s lovely to play and maybe in previous series you'd just see them going to work, you’d not see what they’re dealing with in the background.”

Scott says: "Blinding, I loved it"

"It is a show that you can really get in at any point.

"Where we are so far, is that essentially it’s the normal trio - DS Arnott, Kate Fleming, Ted Hastings, but what they’re now going into is… with each series they look at a detective or somebody in the police trying to work out if they’re corrupt or not, but this series is looking at organised crime.

"We have got the introduction of John Corbett played by Steven Graham.

"It's absolutely a must watch. It really builds up incrementally.

Hayley says: "This was really gripping"

"Bodyguard had an amazing opening scene and he [Jed Mercurio] has done it again with this and this was really gripping.

"This is the first Line of Duty I’ve ever seen, I’ve no idea who any of the people are.

"If you are like me and somehow slacked off and somehow never watched anything, you can jump in straight away and you’ll probably do what I did which is have a look on iPlayer and breathe a sigh of relief because all of the previous seasons are there."
