The 5 live Septemberfest igloo

For an experience journalist on a News and Sports radio station this is an extremely poor blog entry. The mandatory Liverpool FC mentions in your posts are tiresome too.

There isn't anywhere to post this comment but as it easily applies to the Igloo I hope it won't be seen as totally off topic.



I am sure all these OBs are great for the people there, and sound like a huge party for the presenters, the background noise, especially of the interminable Papal visit, made the broadcasts impossible to concentrate on content as the external noise was so high. Shelagh trying to broadcast whilst a helicopter hovered overhead is a good example -couldn't it have been switched to the studio? Not to mention the background racket in the north east. When you have had such OBs before, for example when Vicky did the election broadcasts, they were very professionally presented.

Ryan does not need me to defend him Dom but he is spot on here. For example if Haile Gebrselassie is such a legend how come Mr Shah cannot even spell his correctly? Still at least he has posted something, I was beginning to get quite worried :-)

That is of course "his name" Shoddy journalism seems to be catching!

I visited the igloo on Saturday before going to see Fighting Talk which was amazing.



I read the sports news and met George Riley which was cool. Although I am a bit gutted if I went at another time I could have met Jacqui Oatley!

When Edelston, Butler and Jones were around people like Riley might have got as far as making the tea.

Never yet seen a comment reappear that has been "referred for further consideration".

"We've got people trying out presenting and commentary"

So why not save money and replace all the news, sports, travel and weather presenters with minimum wage interns? How difficult is it to read a prepared bulletin on a screen? And when they've done that they can leave the studio and let the presenter earn their money rather than use up programme time bantering.

This blog goes downhill everday. Whatever happened to blogs on serious subjects?

I went to Septemberfest and thoroughly enjoyed myself. Left with a good impression of 5live and the prsenters especially colin Murray who goes beyond the call of duty to talk to the audience before and after the shows. I thought the igloo lets a lot of children get involved. The video in the blog demonstrates this well.
