Watch: Explore France

Hi, I’m Freya.
I've been sent some photos from France.
Let’s take a look!
Chrissie: Hiya Freya! I cycled all the way here!
Freya: Bonjour Chrissie. Uncle Bob has been cycling too – in France.
They have a big bike race there called the Tour de France!
Chrissie: Oo, I hope he’s fit, as France is more than twice the size of the UK!
Freya: Well he started in the south, in a city called Nice!
Chrissie: Looks lovely.
Freya: More tourists visit France than any other country!
Here in the south they come for the beaches and the Mediterranean Sea.
Chrissie: But that can cause problems. People throw away lots of plastic and small pieces can end up in the sea.
They can be harmful for people and the wildlife.
Freya: Oh dear, let’s see where Uncle Bob went next.
Look, he cycled into those mountains there, the Alps!
Wow, he went up Mont Blanc, people visit here to go skiing.
Chrissie: And to eat cheese!
Freya: Then he cycled through the centre of France, to the Loire Valley.
There are lots of farms in France, this one grows grapes and is called a vineyard.
Chrissie: What! More cheese?
Freya: Well France has almost 400 different kinds of cheese, or ‘fromage,’ as they call it!
He then carried on to Pairs, the capital city of France, that’s where the Eiffel Tower is and the famous Mona Lisa painting!
What’s his photo of?
Freya and Chrissie: CHHEEEESSSEEE
Freya: Oh look, Uncle Bob’s heading home.
Chrissie: It’s the Channel Tunnel, the longest undersea tunnel in the world!
Freya: And there’s Uncle Bob’s bike.
He’s been on a Tour de Fromage rather than a Tour de France! Haha.
Yuck, I can smell that cheese.
Chrissie: Uh sorry, Freya, I’ve taken my trainers off!
