Watch: Explore Nigeria

Hello!
We've been sent some photos of Nigeria in Africa.
Let’s take a look!
Rodge: Freya, you coming surfing?
Freya: In a bit, Rodge.
Uncle Bob’s made it to Nigeria! Come look.
He was in America, then he travelled across the Atlantic Ocean to Africa. And now he’s here, in Nigeria!
Rodge: It looks big, it must be four times bigger than the UK!
I hope he packed a sun hat, the weather’s pretty hot there!
Freya: And it’s busy! People call it the Giant of Africa because so many people live there.
This city here, Lagos, is so big it’s called a megacity, with big factories, a really big port and busy streets.
Rodge: There’s a lot of young people in Nigeria!
Freya: Yeah, almost half of the people in Nigeria are children. Let’s say hello!
*Different people in the street: Kedu.
Bawo ni.
Kóyo.
Mavo.
Hello.
Rodge: They all said hello in a different way!
Freya: That’s because there are over 500 languages in Nigeria.
Rodge: Is that a church over there?
Freya: Yeah, in the South most people are Christian, but if we go to the North, they tend to have mosques, as most people here are Muslim.
Rodge: It looks so different here.
Freya: Nigeria is like that, with all sorts of different places.
Tropical rainforests over near Cameroon are full of animals. Lots of lakes, which people use for drinking and fishing, and villages on flat areas high up in the mountains.
Rodge: Oh, and look at those big rivers! I bet they have sweet waves!
They seem to spread out close to the coast.
Freya: Yeah, that’s called a delta! Check it out.
You see those big roots that look like legs?
They’re mangrove trees, loads of animals and plants live around them.
But Uncle Bob went somewhere even more amazing, Cross River State.
Rodge: What’s so special about this place?
Freya: This! Uh, aaahhh!
Haha. It’s famous for all its different butterflies.
Uncle Bob will have a great time.
