Description

A look at the training and equipment required to be a top cyclist. Considers the bicycle weight, the gear requirements and the cyclist’s fitness rate.

Classroom Ideas

Students could make line graphs of the data. They could compare time against heart rate: of the cyclist in the clip or they could perform some exercise and collect their own data. Alternatively, they could investigate the geometry of why gear sizes differ relative to the amount of work required to turn them.
