Transformations change the size or position of shapes. Congruent shapes are identical, but may be reflected, rotated or translated. Scale factors can increase or decrease the size of a shape.

Sometimes a shape is transformed using more than one step, for example a reflection followed by a rotation.

The combination of transformations can usually be described as a single transformation.

To describe the transformation from V to Y as a single transformation, it is a translation by the \(\begin{pmatrix} -2 \\ -2 \end{pmatrix}\).
