Direct object pronouns - me, te, leWhat happens when there is more than one verb?

If the verb is followed by a verb in the infinitive, the pronoun comes before the infinitive:

• j'aime la regarder - I like to watch it
• nous allons vous attendre à la gare - we're going to wait for you at the train station

Before a vowel or a silent-h, me changes to m', te changes to t', le and la change to l':

• elle m'aime - she loves me
• je t'aime - I love you
• nous l'avons mangé - we ate it

In the perfect tense, the pronoun goes before the conjugated form of avoir or être:

• je l’ai vu ! - I saw it!
• ils les ont mis dans leurs sacs - they put them in their bags

With negatives the pronoun comes after the ne:

• je ne le mérite pas - I don’t deserve it
• il ne la voit plus ! - he doesn’t see her anymore!
