Learning a foreign language
Listen to the following interview with a French student who wants to take a gap year, then try to answer the questions below.
As a follow up activity you could use some of the vocabulary and sentence construction featured to answer the questions for yourself.
Quelles langues parles-tu?
Les langues me passionnent, donc j’en parle plusieurs. Je parle le français assez bien car je l’étudie depuis six ans à l’école. J’ai eu plusieurs possibilités de le pratiquer grâce aux vacances en France avec ma famille et aux échanges scolaires. En ce moment je suis en train d’étudier l’espagnol à l’école, mais je sais seulement quelques mots.

She speaks French quite well. She says je parle le français assez bien.
She has been studying it at school for six years and has had the chance to practice it on family holidays and exchange trips. She says je l’étudie depuis six ans à l’école and j’ai eu plusieurs possibilités de le pratiquer grâce aux vacances en France avec ma famille et aux échanges scolaires.
She only knows a few words of Spanish. She says je sais seulement quelques mots.
She is in the process of learning it at school. She says en ce moment je suis en train d’étudier l’espagnol.

What languages do you speak?
I love languages so I speak several. I speak quite good French because I have studied it at school for six years. I have had the chance to practise it several times due to holidays with my family and exchange trips to France. Now I am in the process of learning Spanish at school, but I only know a few words.
