Health organisations

Very often when we are in hospital or a residential home the hospitality industry doesn't immediately spring to mind.

This is a difficult area as people’s needs are more difficult to meet to a high standard. Budgets, time constraints and limited resources can all have an impact on the quality of service.

Schools, colleges and universities

From nursery school to university, the hospitality industry may have an influence on our eating habits depending on the quality of food provided.

In secondary schools, self-service food can be chosen in the school canteen while at college or university there is likely to be a variety of outlets for students and staff to choose from.

The leisure industry

Most people nowadays have more leisure time and there is also a greater emphasis on health and fitness.

This has influenced the increase in the number of places providing sporting and recreational facilities.

It has also led to an increase in the number of hospitality outlets required to meet this demand such as food kiosks in leisure centres, or juice bars in gyms.

As well as personal fitness there has been an increase in the number of people attending large sporting events.

These are often held at large venues where all types of food and drink outlets are available. Spectators may stay locally so there is also an increase in demand for accommodation as well as food.

The hospitality industry is vital to the success and enjoyment of these occasions.
