Transcript:Noël c’est la fête préférée de ma famille. Mes grands-parents, ma tante et sa famille viennent tous pour dîner et plus tard nous allons à une soirée chez mon oncle.

Christmas is my family’s favourite holiday. My grandparents, along with my aunt and her family all come for dinner and later we go to a party in my uncle’s house.

Transcript:Nous avons beaucoup de décorations. Nous avons des lumières à l’extérieur sur l’arbre dans notre jardin et nous avons un petit sapin de noël artificiel dans le vestibule et un vrai sapin de noël énorme dans le salon. Chaque année nous achetons une nouvelle boule de Noël pour le grand sapin et nous avons une étoile spéciale au sommet de l’arbre. Je me sens toujours un peu triste au mois de janvier quand nous enlevons le sapin de Noël et les lumières.

We have lots of decorations. We have lights outside on the tree in our garden and we have a small Christmas tree in the hallway and a big real one in the living room. Each year we buy a new bauble for the big Christmas tree and we have a very special star on the top of it. I always feel sad in January when the tree and lights come down.

Transcript:Mes parents m’ont donné de l’argent et m’ont acheté de nouveaux vêtements et du maquillage. Ma tante m’a acheté des billets de concert et mes grands-parents m’ont acheté un nouveau vélo.

My parents gave me money and bought me new clothes and make-up. My aunt got me tickets for a concert and my grandparents bought me a new bike.

Transcript:Notre repas de Noël est très traditionnel. On commence avec une soupe et puis une petite salade aux crevettes. Pour le plat principal nous avons de la dinde, bien sûr, du jambon, de la purée des pommes de terre, des pommes de terre rôties, des choux de Bruxelles, et ma chose préférée, des petites saucisses et un pudding de Noël.

Our Christmas dinner is very traditional. It starts with soup and then prawn cocktail. For the main course we have turkey, of course, ham, mash potatoes, roast potatoes, Brussel sprouts, carrots, parsnips, and my favourite thing, chipolatas and Christmas pudding.

Transcript:À mon avis il y a beaucoup de différences entre Noël en France et Noël ici. La différence principale est que les Français fêtent la veille de Noël. Ce qu’on mange la veille de Noël est très différent de chez nous - ils mangent des fruits de mer et du foie gras et ils boivent du champagne.

In my opinion, there are many differences between Christmas in France and here. The main difference is that the French celebrate on Christmas Eve. The food that is eaten on Christmas Eve is very different to here at home - they eat seafood and foie gras and drink champagne.

Transcript:La bûche de Noël est leur dessert traditionnel, pas le pudding de Noël! En plus, en Irlande nous laissons nos chaussettes pour le père Noël, mais les enfants français laissent leurs chaussons pour le père Noël.

The Yule log is their traditional dessert not Christmas pudding! Also, in Ireland we hang up stockings for Santa, but French children leave out their slippers for Père Noël.

Transcript:L'année dernière, nous avons fait quelque chose de très différent pour Noël et nous avons rendu visite à de la famille en Australie – sans aucun doute c'était très étrange de passer Noël au soleil! Cela dit, nous avons passé la journée à la plage et avons même vu un père Noël surfer!

Last year we did something very different for Christmas and we visited family in Australia - without doubt it was very strange spending Christmas in the sun! That said, we spent the day at the beach and even saw a surfing Santa!

Transcript:Nous avons mangé des crevettes grillées et des fruits de mer pour le dîner avec du Pavlova au dessert. C’était bon, mais le dîner traditionnel de Noël m’a quand même manqué. Finalement, je pense que je préfère Noël dans un climat plus froid car c'est ce à quoi je suis habitué! J'ai l'impression de ne pas vraiment avoir fêté Noël cette année.

We had grilled shrimp and seafood for dinner with Pavlova for dessert. It was good, but I still missed the traditional Christmas dinner. Finally, I think I prefer Christmas in a colder climate because that's what I'm used to! I feel like I haven't really celebrated Christmas this year.
