Promotion makes customers aware of a product or service
Promotion is any form of communication a business has with its target market. This will be to inform, persuade and remind potential and existing customers about how they can meet their needs and wants.
Businesses will normally use a blend of the follow two promotional strategies:
- Above-the-line promotion (also know as advertisingProducing paid material to inform public of a product or service.) This means using the media to communicate with a broad audience, eg broadcast media, print media and apps.
- Below-the-line promotion (including sales promotionA short-term marketing strategy which aims to increase sales of a particular product or a range of products.) this means more targeted, personalised promotion strategies eg coupons, loyalty cards, competitions and special offers.
