Promotion is any form of communication a business has with its target market. This will be to inform, persuade and remind potential and existing customers about how they can meet their needs and wants.

Businesses will normally use a blend of the follow two promotional strategies:

  • Above-the-line promotion (also know as ) This means using the media to communicate with a broad audience, eg broadcast media, print media and apps.
  • Below-the-line promotion (including ) this means more targeted, personalised promotion strategies eg coupons, loyalty cards, competitions and special offers.
