How do Sikhs help victims of war?

Central principles of Sikhism are selflessness, equality and willingness to serve others. Sikhs value generosity, hospitality and believe in sharing wealth and helping others who are in need.

Sikhs are inspired by the example of Bhai Kanhaiya, who gave water to injured soldiers, non-Sikh as well as Sikh, on the battlefield. When another Sikh complained about this to , the commended Bhai Kanhaiya. What he did has inspired later generations of Sikhs with the ideal of offering medical treatment to all.

Khalsa Aid

Khalsa Aid is an international, non-profit aid and relief organisation. The charity has provided relief and support to victims of war, natural disasters and other tragic events around the world.

This agency is founded on the teachings of the Sikh Gurus who preached the well-being of all humanity. They aim to provide aid for many different disasters and rely on the generosity of the Sikh community worldwide.

Khalsa Aid was launched in 1999 and is a relief agency. This charity began by helping who were fleeing from Kosovo. These were mainly Muslims who were being killed because of their religion or ethnic origin. Food and money was donated by the Sikh community and sent to victims of war who were travelling for safety to Albania.

The agency has also provided assistance in Kabul, Afghanistan.
