Fuses

Every appliance that uses mains electricity comes supplied with a moulded plug and section where you can replace the fuse.

The fuse is a safety device intended to stop the cable and connecting wire from overheating and possibly leading to a fire. There are only two sizes of fuses in our plugs.

For devices with a power rating of up to 720 W we should use a 3 A fuse.

For all devices with a rating of over 720 W we should use a 13 A fuse.

These are the only fuses we should use. If you find a 5 A or an 8 A fuse in an appliance plug you should replace it with the appropriately rated fuse.
