A percentage represents a fraction given out of 100. 27% means \(\frac {27} {100}\).
To find a percentage of an amount we can divide by 100, to find 1% and then multiply to find the required percentage.
Calculate 23% of 460.
A useful method for finding percentages without the use of a calculator is to begin with 10%, found by dividing 100% by 10.
From 10% we can multiply and divide to find other percentages. We can also add parts together to find the required percentage.
Calculate 40% of 35.
Calculate 15% of 60.
Calculate 28% of 50.
