Explain vs analyse

Explain

Explain questions (2 marks) require a point to be made that is then developed. Answers must show more than just knowledge so it has to be developed.

  • make a point
  • give a reason why (often given as ‘because’)
  • state the consequence (positive or negative) for the business

Analyse questions (4 or 8 marks) require identifying a correct knowledge point that relates to an area covered in the GCSE Business course, applying it to the case study stimulus and then developing it to give an impact or consequence.
