Portfolio detail

Within your portfolio it would be beneficial to include:

  • the reasons for using a particular method to gather data
  • a summary of your results and the impact this will have on your performance

An example of each is given below:

Reasons for using a particular data-gathering method

“Because I am trying to improve my CRE, I chose to do the 12 minute Cooper test to find out what my current level of CRE was. This test is a standardised test which means I have specific instructions to follow to set it up. This makes it a reliable piece of data because it is carried out in the same way every time. Because I get my coach to do the timings and recording/calculations, it becomes a measurable test. This means when I repeat it later on I can compare my times to see if my CRE has improved. The \(12\;minute\) Cooper test has been made specifically for CRE so this means it is a valid piece of data.”

Summary of results and impact on performance

"From analysing my 12 minute Cooper score – (\(1235\,m\)) I am in the poor category when compared to the National Averages for my age and sex. This would explain that, when competing in a hockey match, I struggle to maintain a high skill level for the full match. This means that my passing is less accurate and easier for the opponents to intercept and gain possession.

I also struggle to keep up with play towards the end. This means I don’t get into a space to allow a chance to draw out an opponent and give us a chance of scoring.

Poor CRE could also relate to why I lose concentration as the match goes on. This means that I sometimes don't mark opponents effectively and they have more opportunity to make attacking moves."
