Reading practice - Higher tier
When translating into English, it's important to make sure that what you have written makes sense. Try to avoid translating word for word and don't be afraid to make a logical guess at a word you may not know. Read each sentence carefully to work out the key message before you begin to translate.
Question
Xavi is talking about where he lives. Translate what he says into English:
Vivo en una casa adosada con mi familia. Cuando era más joven, tenía que compartir mi habitación con mi hermana, pero ahora necesito mi propio espacio. Lo peor es que no hay jardín, porque me gustaría poder jugar fuera de la casa. Mis padres acaban de construir un garaje, pero no es demasiado grande. Si tuviera más dinero, tendría una piscina en el patio.
I live in a semi-detached house with my family. When I was younger, I had to share my room with my sister, but now I need my own space. The worst thing is that there is no garden, because I would like to be able to play outside the house. My parents have just built a garage, but it is not too big. If I had more money, I would have a swimming pool in the patio.
