Beyond descriptions of where people live in Spain, you may also come across more imaginative descriptions of houses and dwellings in literary texts.
Read this extract from a novel.
Caminaba por el bosque cuando vi una hermosa casa de color rosa, rodeada por un jardín lleno de flores. Me acerqué y llamé a la puerta de la casa tres veces, pero no contestó nadie. Finalmente, la puerta fue abierta muy lentamente por una mujer muy anciana.
No salgo nunca de esta casa - me dijo la mujer - porque prefiero quedarme aquí, mirando las fotos del pasado.
La mujer anciana me invitó a entrar y nos sentamos en unos sillones verdes que había en un salón pequeño. En todas las paredes había miles de fotos muy antiguas.

The text says llamé a la puerta de la casa tres veces, pero no contestó nadie. Finalmente, la puerta fue abierta muy lentamente por una mujer muy anciana (I knocked at the door of the house three times, but nobody answered. Finally, the door was opened very slowly by a very old lady.)

They went to sit down in the living room. It had green armchairs/it was a small room/there were a lot of very old photos on the walls.
The text says nos sentamos en unos sillones verdes que había en un salón pequeño. En todas las paredes había miles de fotos muy antiguas (we sat down on green armchairs which were in a small living-room. There were a lot of very old photos on the walls.)
