Tá an-dúil agam sa taisteal agus mar sin bhí sceitimíní orm nuair a d’inis mo thuismitheoirí dom go raibh muid ag dul ar saoire thar lear. Chuir mo dhaidí ticéid eitleáin in áirithe ar an idirlíon agus chuir mo mhamaí scairt ar óstán galánta suite sna sléibhte, fiche bomaite ón chósta agus bhí sé saor ar na dátaí céanna, buíochas le Dia. Bhí cead agam mo chara Laoise a thabhairt liom, agus bhí mé iontach sásta faoi sin. D’fhág muid ag tús an tsamhraidh fá choinne saoire san Iodáil.

Thaistil muid ó aerfort Bhaile Átha Cliath go luath ar maidin. D’fhág muid ar a deich agus bhí muid ann ar leath i ndiaidh a haon. Bhí an t-eitleán ar fheabhas ar fad mar bhí scáileán teilifíse ag gach suíochán. D’amharc muid ar scannán i rith an bhealaigh ach ní riabh an bia thar mholadh beirte.

Ar an chéad oíche, bhí béile mór Iodálach againn uilig sa bhialann san óstán. Ba óstán den chéad scoth é, idir na seomraí, an tseirbhís, an radharcra agus an bia. Chuaigh muid a luí go luath, áfach, mar bhí muid tuirseach traochta ón turas. Rinne muid cuid mhór le linn na saoire mar bhí an aimsir ar fheabhas gach lá. Chaith muid cúpla lá ar an trá ag imirt cluichí agus ag déanamh bolg le gréin. Lá amháin, thiomáin mo dhaidí bád thart ar an chósta – bhí sin go hiontach! Labhair mé giota beag Iodáilise le muintir na háite. Chaith muid coicís iontach san Iodáil ach bhí brón orainn uilig nuair a tháinig an lá deireanach mar bhain muid an-sult as an tsaoire.

I love to travel and so I was excited when my parents told me that we were going abroad on holiday. My dad booked plane tickets on the internet and my mum phoned a beautiful hotel situated in the mountains, twenty minutes from the coast and it was free on the same dates, thank God. I was allowed to take my friend Laoise with me and I was very happy about that. We left at the start of the summer for a holiday in Italy.

We travelled from Dublin airport early in the morning. We left at ten o’clock and we were there at half past one. The plane was excellent because there was a TV screen in every seat. We watched a film the whole way but the food wasn’t great.

On the first night, we had a big Italian meal in the restaurant in the hotel. Between the rooms, the service, the scenery and the food the hotel was first class. We went to bed early, however, because we were wrecked from the journey. We did a lot during the holiday because the weather was excellent every day. We spent a couple of days on the beach playing games and sunbathing. One day, my dad drove a boat around the coast – that was excellent! I spoke a little Italian with the locals. We spent a fortnight in Italy but we were sad when the last day came because we really enjoyed the holiday.
