Planning and organisationExecuting – working the plan

Volunteering in the local community is a rewarding experience. Setting appropriate aims and objectives, as well as applying project management skills, are part of the planning and organising process.

Part ofNational: Foundation KS4Community challenge

Executing – working the plan

This is where each task that has been allocated to each person will need to be fully explained, including timescales.

There might be a task that cannot start until another task has been completed.

The person responsible for a particular task should also be aware of the future tasks that are waiting to be started on completion of their particular task.

Monitoring and controlling – controlling the plan

This part of the process involves managing the team and ensuring tasks are being completed by the agreed deadlines.

If they are running late, decisions will need to be made about how to catch up.

Closing – ending the work

Once the overall aim of the project has been completed, it can be formally closed and a final review should be held to learn from the successes and the mistakes that have occurred.

The lessons learnt can help future project successes.
