The shape and nature of different performance spaces and stages affect the way that plays are staged and performed. Think carefully about the audience experience and what they see.
If someone stands upstage of you then they’ll be dominant. This is because you’ll have to look away from the audience to connect with them. Don’t let that happen by accident. If someone is upstage centre and almost everyone onstage is looking at them, it must be deliberate, eg when they’re a king being crowned.
Crossing
If you walk across the area to a significantly new position you cross the stage.
Clearing
When you stop, make sure you’re not blocking someone, especially someone important, from the audience’s view.
