Paul Bhattacharjee pictured above (Mushtaq Jilani) has directed several touring theatre productions himself. Some of you may remember him in the TV soap 'Albion Market' although he would probably rather you forgot that one!
Bharti Patel (Rita Chauhan) starred in the first play ever written by Silver Street's Script Editor. Who was to know that all this time later she would have a leading role in the soap too
Sartaj Garewal (Kuljit Singh) graduated in Accounting and Finance and worked in a variety of City jobs before deciding to become an actor
Hema Mangoo (Jas Chauhan) and Clive Wedderburn (Sway Holloway) went to the same Drama school
Pooja Ghai (Rozena Jilani) and Ashvin-Kumar Joshi (Pradeep Chauhan) are both originally from East Africa
Jay Kiyani (footballer Jaggy Singh) used to be an amateur boxer and went nude on stage once when he played Haroon in 'Buddha of Suburbia'
Renu Setna (Mani Ray) is a very well known face on our TV screens and has starred in a variety of long running programmes such as Only Fools And Horses and once worked as a navvy as part of his National Service
Carole Nimmons (Mary Brady) and Surendra Kochar (Kamla Dattani) are no strangers to soaps. They have both appeared in Coronation Street
In his spare time, Kee Ramsorrun (Sean Brady) enjoys making short films. He is a big Laurel and Hardy fan and is currently working on resurrecting them in the form of two bumbling street youths
Young Rakhee Thakrar (Roopa Chauhan) is one of three managing directors of a theatre company based in Leicester
