The Duke of Edinburgh

On his marriage to Princess Elizabeth in 1947, the Duke of Edinburgh became a part of the British Royal Family and, as the Queen's consort, was recognised as one of Britain's hardest-working royals.

This collection focuses on his enthusiasm for conservation and creating opportunities for young people. We recall some of the key moments in his public and private life including the birth of his first child, Prince Charles, and the foundation of the Duke of Edinburgh's Award scheme.
