Newsday - Lord Avon
To mark the centenary of Winston Churchill's birth, Lord Avon (Anthony Eden) talks about his friendship with Churchill and provides a glimpse behind the legend. From his own early days as foreign secretary to his role within the wartime coalition, Eden saw Churchill at work from close quarters and remembers him as possessing a great sense of humour, something that he feels has been missed in dramatic portrayals of the man.
Robin Day makes reference to a TV series that had recently been broadcast. Jennie: Lady Randolph Churchill was made by Thames for ITV and starred Lee Remick and Ronald Pickup as Churchill's parents, with Warren Clarke as young Winston.
