The War Lords - Churchill

In this lecture, noted historian AJP Taylor is critical of Churchill's failings, including his refusal to take seriously the threat from the Soviet Union and China. However, the academic is equally frank in his assessment of Churchill's successes, believing that the statesman deserves to sit alongside Nelson and Wellington as one of the greatest war heroes in British history.

AJP Taylor was a Fellow of Magdalen College, Oxford from 1938 until 1976. He was also the first "television don", delivering his historical lectures, throughout a 30-year broadcasting career, largely unscripted and without the aid of modern technology such as an autocue.
