Football Legends - Johnny Haynes

Jimmy Armfield talks to Johnny Haynes about his famous salary, his debut for England at the age of 19, his commitment to playing for Fulham and how his life changed after he was injured in a car crash in 1962. We also hear from Jimmy Greaves, Jimmy Hill and Bobby Robson, who all extol his brilliant talent as a passer of the ball and attribute his success, at least in part, to the fact that he 'trusted his ability'. Johnny Haynes could have gone to Arsenal, who had spotted him as a schoolboy player, but he chose Fulham instead. He later wrote that Highbury was more like the Stock Exchange than a football club.
