Important notice from the BBC about TV licences for people aged 75 or over

Published: 20 July 2020
Updated: 29 July 2021

General notice

Since 1 August 2020[1] people aged 75 or over have been entitled to a free TV licence if they receive Pension Credit. However, if you had a free TV licence immediately before then, we extended its validity[2] until it was replaced or cancelled. This notice confirms that those licences are cancelled as from 31 July 2021, which is when the transition period for the new policy ends.

Issued by the BBC 29 July 2021
