THE BEST LIVE MUSIC
Mark presents two shows featuring a feast of live music recorded at South by Southwest.

Listen again to Mark's Saturday afternoon show, where he's joined live in the studio by Austin based rock and roller Ian McLagan, best known as keyboard player in both the Small Faces and The Faces. Mark also talks to Western Swing icon Ray Benson, founder of the Grammy-winning Asleep at the Wheel.

Live music comes from West Texan band The Flatlanders, who play an acoustic session in the studio. The Flatlanders, whose three main members are Jimmie Dale Gilmore, Butch Hancock and Joe Ely first formed in 1971, recording an album which was only available on 8 track tape until its re-release in 1990. Successful solo artists in their own right, the three reformed after a gap of 30 years releasing an album in 2002.

Later on Saturday night Mark presents a second helping of live music, including sets from Swedish garage rockers The Hives and Mercury nominated British band Athlete.
