Mark Lamarr, Stuart Maconie, Bob Harris and Steve Lamacq are covering the event for BBC Radio 2 and BBC 6 Music, with Zane Lowe covering for Radio 1, reporting back on the action and introducing live music from the many varied artists that take part.

As well as a huge range of new and up and coming artists, SxSW also provides a stage for many established performers. Artists so far confirmed as playing include: Franz Ferdinand, British Sea Power, The Hives, Liz Phair, The Flatlanders, Alison Moorer, Mindy Smith and Joss Stone, plus many more.

The keynote address for the festival will be delivered by rock and roll legend Little Richard.

Lesley Douglas, controller BBC Radio 2 and 6 Music says: "SXSW is one of the most influential music events in the world. It champions new talent together with fresh material from established artists, all of which will ultimately affect what our listeners will hear on air and buy in the shops. It is also a key showplace for British talent as they expose themselves to the American market. Radio 2 and 6 Music are broadcasting over 15 hours of programming from this event - enabling us to reflect all the different artists taking part and ensuring that we take audiences to the heart of the action."
