Three young children remain critically ill in hospital after a car crash in north Wales at the weekend in which their sister was killed.

Chelsea, four, Paige, seven, and Connor Parry, eight, were in a car being driven by their mother when the car was involved in the accident on Anglesey on Sunday afternoon.

Their elder sister Jade, 12, died at the scene of the accident and her sisters and brothers were badly hurt.

The children's parents - Wendy, who was also injured in the crash, and her husband John Parry, of Cemaes Bay on Anglesey, - are keeping a bedside vigil at Alder Hey hospital in Liverpool.

The two sisters' condition was described as "very critical" by the hospital on Christmas Eve, while that of their brother was said to be "stable".

Connor was transferred to Alder Hey after earlier being treated for head injuries at the Walton neuro surgical unit in Liverpool.

A police investigation is under way into the crash which involved three vehicles and happened at 1300 GMT on the A5025 at City Dulas, Amlwch.

There have been campaigns by people living in the area to get the 60mph speed limit on the road to be reduced, following five road deaths in recent years.

Jade Parry had been travelling in a white BMW and died at the scene.

The accident victims were taken to Ysbyty Gwynedd

A man and young boy travelling in a red Vauxhall Nova suffered serious injuries, but they were not thought to be life-threatening.

The boy suffered extensive leg injuries, but is recovering well, and the man who was in the car with him is said to be in a "stable" condition.

The driver of the third car involved in the collision is understood to have escaped unhurt.

Speed cameras

Police in Caernarfon said most of the people involved in the collision were local to the area, but one casualty was from south Wales.

The stretch of road where the accident happened is one of those included in the North Wales Police 'Arrive Alive' campaign, and has mobile speed cameras covering the area.

Family liaison officers have been appointed to help relatives of those involved in the crash.

Three fire engines, five ambulances, as well as police and an RAF helicopter, attended the incident which left the road closed.
