Inquiry into child death road crash
Dulas in Angelsey
The accident took place at Dulas
Investigations have begun to determine the cause of a road crash in north Wales in which a 12-year-old girl died and five other people were seriously injured.

The accident, involving three vehicles, happened at a notorious blackspot on the A5025 at City Dulas, Amlwch, Anglesey shortly after 1300 GMT on Sunday.

Ysbyty Gwynedd
The accident victims were taken to Ysbyty Gwynedd

People living locally said they had been campaigning for the speed limit on the road to be reduced, following five road deaths in as many years.

The girl, who was travelling in a white BMW, died at the scene. Another three children from the same car were taken to hospital.

One of them, a six-year-old girl, was airlifted to Alder Hey Hospital in Liverpool, and two others were taken to Ysbyty Gwynedd in Bangor.

Injuries

Their mother, who was driving the car, was also taken to hospital, where her condition was described as "stable".

A man and young boy travelling in a red Vauxhall Nova suffered serious injuries, but they were not thought to be life-threatening.

The driver of the third car escaped unhurt.

The reasons for the crash are still unknown.

Police in Caernarfon say most of the people involved in the collision were local, but one casualty was from south Wales.

Family liaison officers have been appointed to help relatives of those involved.

Three fire engines, five ambulances, as well as police and an RAF helicopter, attended the incident.

All the casualties were thought to have broken limbs and other injuries.

The A5025 road at Dulas, near Moelfre, was closed as a result of the accident.
