| Tuesday, 24 September, 2002, 12:56 GMT 13:56 UK Inquiry after warehouse death ![]() The man was killed at the store in Llantrisant An investigation into the death of a maintenance worker at a shop warehouse in Llantrisant, near Cardiff, has been launched. It is believed the man was crushed by a hydraulic ramp while working at the Leekes store.
The fire service, police and ambulance were called to the scene just after 0800 BST. The man was carrying out maintenace for an engineering firm at the warehouse. An inquiry has been launched by the Health and Safety Executive into the death. Rhondda Cynon Taff council are leading the investigation. Lester Lewis, the council's divisional director for public health and protection, said: " We are carrying out an investigation under the Health and Safety at Work Act (1974) as the council is the enforcement authority or these premises. "We will report the investigation findings to the Coroner and will consider further action should that be necessary." A spokesman for Leekes said the company were helping with the inquiry.
