BBC News Online's Tom Bourton investigates which Welsh celebrities are attracting media attention around the world.

Fresh from their tour of America and a rocking appearance at Radio One's Big Sunday, the Lostprophets have announced a five-night UK tour.

The most eagerly-anticipated date for the Pontypridd band must be the night at the Newport Centre on October 10.

Other stops will be the Birmingham Academy (Oct 6), Glasgow's Barrowlands (Oct 8), the Manchester Academy (Oct 9) and London's Brixton Academy (Oct 12).

The band have used their website to remind fans that two support acts are still to be added to the tour.

Meanwhile, charismatic Stereophonics drummer Stuart Cable has started work on a new chat show, called Cable TV.

Filmed at the Pop Factory in Porth, the long-haired host from Cwmaman will welcome a mix of celebrities and new music to the "David Letterman-style" programme.

Not forgetting his day job, Stuart will also be busy with the band, who have lined up a gig at Edinburgh's T On the Fringe festival ahead of their V2002 shows on August 17-18 in Chelmsford and Stafford, according to the NME site.

This week, the boys also dazzled at a Formula One party ahead of the British Grand Prix.

Stuart Cable is becoming a TV star

Manchester United winger Ryan Giggs attended the event, but all of the Welsh stars were upstaged by glamour model (and new mother) Jordan, who stole all the Sunday morning headlines with her alcohol-fulled antics.

Elsewhere on the music front, Super Furry Animals fans can check out a whole new selection of press cuttings on their website, while Heat magazine report Hear'Say singer Noel Sullivan, from Cardiff, has lost two stone after embarking on a "bizarre" diet.

Moving onto a slightly more experienced musician, and Cardiff bass player Pino Palladino, 44, has started a US tour with The Who after being called up to replace John Entwhistle, who died in a Las Vegas hotel at the end of June.

Movie and marriages

Moviestar Anthony Hopkins has been the focus of considerable internet interest in the wake of a revealing BBC documentary about him, which included footage from Red Dragon, his latest Hannibal movie.

Chatrooms and news sites across the world have been buzzing with details of the programme, all discussing how his comments - such as those about a possible chapter in the Hannibal files - can be interpreted.

The Anthony Hopkins documentary has made waves

More intimately, the Welsh Mirror reports Hopkins has made a first public appearance with his new love - antiques dealer Stella Arroyave, 46.

The same paper's 3am girls, however, had less postive tidings about BBC presenter Lowri Turner, who is said to have kicked out her husband Paul Connew - months before she is due to give birth to the couple's second child.

Speaking of children, Catherine Zeta Jones is understoood to have signed up her son Dylan for a place at Llandovery college in west Wales.

CZJ and husband Michael Douglas, who have been photographed playing at a Celebrity Golf Tournament in California in Heat magazine, have also been on the cover of Now magazine promising to create a sibling for Dylan before too long.

Back in the film world, the Comingsoon site has Pembrokeshire's Christian Bale chatting more about his new move Reign of Fire, and how he got headbutted by Matthew McConaughey during a fight scene.

Dark Horizons has also run a review of the film, which "pleasantly surprised" the reviewer, who said there was a "good storyline, well-developed characters, and excellent special effects".

Finally, the News of the World report Pontypridd actress Anna Mountford, who recently left Holby City, is being lined up for a part in a Jack Nicholson movie as she plans to move to LA.

It looks like the Welsh Californian Filmstar Society could have snapped up its latest recruit....
