| Saturday, 13 July, 2002, 13:55 GMT 14:55 UK Alert over 'bad batch' of heroin ![]() Three deaths are being investigated by police Drug users have been warned that a "bad batch" of heroin may be in circulation following the deaths of three men in Fife. Police have urged addicts to take the "utmost care" and seek medical advice if they have any concerns. A spokesman for Fife Constabulary said the force was investigating three sudden deaths from suspected drug overdoses in the last week. Two men died in Kirkcaldy on Thursday and Friday, while the third victim died in North East Fife earlier in the week. "We suspect that either a bad batch or high strength batch of heroin is in circulation within Fife and are urging all users to take utmost care to avoid further tragedy," said the spokesman. "Police would also urge anyone who has information on the source of supply of the heroin to contact Fife police, in confidence, by telephoning 01592 418888."
