Petrol bombs recovered in east Belfast
Police have discovered petrol and paint bombs in the Short Strand area of east Belfast.

Twenty-two of the devices were recovered in the Strand Walk area at about 1900 BST on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, police recovered bottles, nuts, bolts and lead weights in the Short Strand.

Meanwhile, closed circuit television cameras have been put out of action in the nearby Madrid Street and the Albertbridge areas.

Chief Inspector Mike Ellis said: "These cameras are part of an initiative to provide protection for the whole community and have been very successful in other parts of the city in tackling crime and criminality."

He called for those with influence to exert calm in the run-up to the marching season.
