Commuters have been sharing their nightmare journeys with BBC London.

That was wishful thinking. Bond Street was closed, Oxford Circus was packed and we couldn't get near the entrance at Tottenham Court Road. We eventually walked round to Leicester Square and there was a huge delay to get on the Northern Line. When we finally managed to get on the train we thought that it would be plain sailing. It wasn't. All trains were stopping at Golders Green, it was packed last night, no more trains north bound, no buses and traffic jams and no grit. It took us till 0100 GMT to get home Vasanti Kara
I know that London failed us last night, but Londoners did us proud. There was a real sense of community, everyone was really sympathetic to everyone else and people walking up Highgate actually linked arms to help steady each other on the pavements Christine, Woodside Park
I went up to offer my coat but before I could get there two other people huddled round with umbrellas and warmth. A nice sight in what is usually a most anonymous city.
