Flooding misery continues for commuters
Flooding in Oxford
Roads in Oxford have been closed due to flooding
Commuters in Oxford are facing another morning of disruption due to a combination of flooding and icy conditions.

Abingdon Road remains closed because of flooding, but Botley Road is passable with care, according to police.

To add to commuters' problems, flooding in the Kennington area between Didcot and Oxford has halted rail services and the line is likely to stay closed until the end of the week.

With freezing conditions in the area motorists are being warned to drive carefully as the excess water may turn to ice.

Break downs

The Abingdon Road has not been so severely flooded for more than 50 years.

A spokesman from the Environment Agency said the River Thames in Oxford reached its highest level since 1947 over the last few days.

But flood waters across the county are now receding according to the spokesman.

Trains between Oxford and Didcot have been cancelled for a fifth day.

Trains from the north are terminating at Oxford and a fleet of buses will once again ferry passengers to Didcot for journeys to continue.

People trying to get into the city this morning are being advised to use buses and the park-and-ride services.
