Under the plans students at outlying campuses at Exeter and Seale Hayne, near Newton Abbot, would be transferred to Plymouth. Students are campaigning against the move. David Clarke from the National Union of Students said that Friday would be a day of protests. Mr Clarke said: "We have got a day of mass action. "We have picket lines at all of our campuses and there will also be 2000 balloons at the city campus to represent the students who will be affected by these relocations." University bosses believe that by concentrating resources at a new centralised site in Plymouth, they can improve research and teaching. | See also: 18 Dec 02 | England 05 Dec 02 | England 18 Nov 02 | England 13 Nov 02 | England 23 Oct 02 | England 10 Oct 01 | Education Internet links: The BBC is not responsible for the content of external internet sites Top England stories now: Links to more England stories are at the foot of the page. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
