Customers at a Chinese takeaway in rural Derbyshire will soon be able to order postage stamps along with their fried rice and spring rolls.

The restaurant, in Walton upon Trent, Derbyshire, is to take over as the town's post office following the closure of the previous site.

Owner Mandy Two said residents were delighted at plans to install a counter service from December.

She said: "A lot of elderly people relied on the old post office, which closed in August.

"We are the only shop left in the village and felt it was important to take on the business to prevent them from becoming isolated."

The takeaway has already taken over evening newspaper deliveries following the closure of a local newsagent.
