| Wednesday, 4 December, 2002, 19:44 GMT Pensioners forced from care home ![]() No reason has been given for the closure Pensioners living at a care home in Lincolnshire have been given only a few days' notice to leave the home. The 15 residents of Woodlands Nursing Home in Lincoln have been told the home is closing and they have to find new accommodation by Friday. The majority of residents suffer from illnesses and need round-the-clock care. Lincolnshire Social Services are working with the residents and their families to find alternative accommodation. 'Two strokes' Doreen Weaver, 82, has lived at the home for eight years and her family is devastated by the closure. "We are very angry, the first thing we knew about it was a letter on Monday morning," her daughter-in-law Jenny Weaver said. "We haven't been able to find out why it is closing because we haven't been able to contact the owner because she is away."
Staff at the home told BBC News they could not comment on the closure. Doreen's son, Keith Weaver, said he was worried about the effect on his mother: "I don't know if she will stand the stress, she has already had two strokes. "We are packing her up today and moving tomorrow." A Lincolnshire Social Services said they hope to find all the residents a place to stay before Friday. | See also: 25 Nov 02 | England 19 Nov 02 | England 30 Oct 02 | Scotland Internet links: The BBC is not responsible for the content of external internet sites Top England stories now: Links to more England stories are at the foot of the page. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
