Police target town centre crime
Bolton town centre
The mobile unit will be set up in Bolton town centre
Police in Bolton are launching a campaign to keep Christmas shoppers safe from crime.

Operation Canary is part of a Greater Manchester Police initiative to combat street crime.

A mobile police unit is being set up at Moor Lane bus station in the town centre.

It aims to deter criminals and reassure the public.

Superintendent Alan Greene of Greater Manchester Police, said: "With Christmas approaching and more people shopping in the town centre, we believe it is an ideal time to send a clear message to offenders that they are not welcome in Bolton.

"We decided to locate the mobile police unit at the bus station as it is such a busy location."

The operation is part of GMP's Operation Hawk.
