Shoppers in Grimsby are being warned not to fall victim to cash machine conmen.

Police believe people are being tricked when their cash card gets stuck in the dispenser.

Thieves are offering to help owners get them back by asking for their identity pin numbers.

But when the cards remain stuck and the owner walks away, the conmen use the pin numbers to withdraw money.

Several people in Grimsby have been victims of the con and police are urging anyone approached not to reveal their pin number.

They say anyone who gets their card stuck in a cashpoint should always contact their bank's 24 hour helpline.

Police believe the offenders could be operating regularly in the run up to Christmas.
